Fielding and Social Innovation
Social innovation is a novel solution to a problem that is more effective, sustainable, or just than current approaches. Since 2002, Fielding’s Institute for Social Innovation (ISI) has helped individuals as well as nonprofit, business, and government organizations address societal problems via research, professional development, and organizational consulting. ISI professionals include Fielding alumni, faculty and students who conduct action-oriented research, train organizational leaders, lead community dialogues, and provide customized organizational consulting.
Innovative Scholarship
Using the latest research-based tools to engage participants in data-driven action and problem-solving.
ISI engages Fielding faculty, students, and alumni in innovative research projects that inspire change for individuals, organizations, and communities.
Meet Our Fellows
The ISI Fellows Program supports more than 50 Fielding alumni as academic partners to continue their professional work, apply for external funding, and publicize their projects. Applications are announced in February.
Professional Development
Leveraging Fielding’s expertise in delivering programs through a blend of online and face-to-face learning.
ISI offers online continuing education (CEU) certificates that empower individuals to lead change. These opportunities can be customized for organizations (e.g., coach training for managers).
Organizational Consulting
Connecting professionals with experts who have designed and transformed organizations.
ISI works with business, government, and nonprofit agencies to implement organizational development projects. ISI consultants consist of faculty, students, and alumni with broad experience in facilitating change through face-to-face and online interventions. Fielding faculty and ISI affiliates offer consultations and workshops customized for deans, department chairs, and faculty to understand and implement competency-based learning and/or prior learning assessment for doctoral education.
